Nritya Niketan was founded by "Nadanamamani" Dr. Janaki Rangarajan in order to promote Bharatanatyam (a South Indian classical dance form) and Carnatic music in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
Janaki received her dance training from the world renowned Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam.
Classes are held in Alexandria/Annandale, Virginia (Washington, DC area) and Glen Allen, Virginia (Richmond area).
Currently enrolling children/teens for Bharatanatyam classes in Alexandria/Annandale, Virginia (DC area) and Glen Allen, Virginia (Richmond area) starting in March 2012:
Alexandria/Annandale - Sundays from Noon-1PM - class starts March 4, 2012 Glen Allen - Mondays from 7PM-8PM - class starts March 5, 2012

The policy at Nritya Niketan is to hold a meeting with prospective students before enrolling them for a class. During the meeting, we will discuss our curriculum and our expectations from our students. After the meeting, if the student wishes to enroll in the class, we will make the necessary arrangements.
